IBD Support Groups and Websites: Australia


Crohn's and Colitis Australia: This is the peak national body representing some 75000 Australians who have IBD. As stated on their website, "CCA support the Crohn's and colitis community with a focus on confidential support programs, including education, advocacy, counselling, increasing awareness, and generating and utilising fund for research and support".  There is a great deal of information to be found on this website. 

Crohn's and Colitis support groups: A list of support groups in Australia arranged by state.

IBD Support Australia:  This website provides support and resources for people living with inflammatory bowel disease. It also provides a message board for people in Australia living with IBD and their family members and friends.

Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis support group: The Facebook page of a not-for-profit organisation providing information.

I have UC: An ulcerative colitis support group: A Facebook page for sharing information and support.

Australian Crohn's and IBD Support Group: This is a closed Facebook page for sharing informant and support.

The Gastrointestinal Society of Australia (GESA): GESA is the peak body for gastroenterology and hepatology in Australia. They work to set, promote and improve the standard of practice, training and research in Australia. There is a section specifically for consumer information about gastrointestinal health and nutrition, and they provide numerous downloadable fact sheets. Some are available in the downloads section, with more available on their site.

The Virtual Gastro Centre: This website provides information on diseases, treatments, events and other useful resources.

Crohn's & Colitis UK: This is a national UK charity organisation. It provides information about IBD and current research.

The Stolen Colon: Information about ileostomy, colostomy, urostomy - not specific to PSC

Crohn's & Colitis Foundation: The Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America (CCFA) is a non-profit, volunteer-driven organization dedicated to finding the cures for Crohn's Disease and ulcerative colitis. This particular page has an interactive body map to explore the effects of Crohn's Disease and Ulcerative Colitis on the body. There is a wealth of information on this site.
