Allergy and Immunology Foundation of Australasia: AIFA is dedicated to funding education and research into disorders of the human immune system. This encompasses allergy, including asthma, and other immune diseases such as primary immunodeficiency and autoimmune diseases.
Australian Clinical Trials: Information, advice and up-to-date information about clinical trials in Australia. There are currently no clinical trials for PSC in Australia.
Australian Liver Foundation: "The Foundation fosters collaboration amongst research institutions, universities and hospitals nationally, so that every effort may be put into sharing information and finding solutions to devastating diseases that afflict so many in Australia and internationally". Research grants for studying liver diseases are available through this foundation.
Australian Family Physician: This is the scientific and peer reviewed journal produced by the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners for General Practitioners. A keyword search on liver disease, for example, will bring up full text articles published in this journal. The AFP provides an Australian context for all information published in the journal.
Lab Tests Online: Another Australian website dedicated to informing the consumer and aiding in the understanding of their pathology results, written by practising Australian pathologists and senior laboratory scientists. Once again PSC is not listed as a dedicated disease entity, but information is available about specific topics. They do have a page that explains clearly the meaning of "reference" range or "normal" range " provided on pathology reports.
Love Your Liver: This site offers tips for good liver health including liver-friendly recipes and information.
myDr: An Australian healthcare website which aims to provide Australian consumers with comprehensive and relevant information. It provides articles about a variety of diseases and conditions, as well as medications. It also enables Australians to search for a health professional in their area. All content is reviewed by practising Australian healthcare professionals to ensure reliable and up-to-date information. Unfortunately PSC does not come up in a keyword search, but information on more specific topics such as liver, liver cirrhosis and so forth are present.
My Virtual Medical Centre: This is an Australian medical information website that has up-to-date information written by medical professionals. It has a search box for you to find specific information. The reference list for information on PSC is not the most current so read carefully.
Research Australia: Research Australia is an alliance of 160 members and supporters advocating for health and medical research in Australia. They have been advocating for the adoption of a Medical Research Future Fund (MRFF) and this has now been passed by parliament.
Royal College of Pathologists Australasia: This online manual is available for consumers to aid in the understanding of clinical problems and pathology results. There are sections detailing specific blood tests and conditions, and while primary sclerosing cholangitis is not listed, information can be found on a range of topics associated with it such as biliary obstruction, cholestasis and ulcerative colitis among many others.
